Basil Moreau took an historic first step in 1837 when he established the Congregation of Holy Cross. That movement took hold in Europe, then America and eventually spanned the globe. Along its path, brave leaders, teachers and advocates of social justice emerged. Men like Father Sorin, founder of the University of Notre Dame; Father Forrestal, pioneer in Hispanic ministry; Father McCauley, Ugandan missionary and bishop; Father Streit, biologist and healer of the Haitian people; and Father Hesburgh, confidant of world leaders.
The work of these great men continues in the service and sacrifices of Holy Cross priests and brothers of the Indiana Province. To assist and sustain these men on their journey, an important new step has been identified for all who believe in the mission of the Holy Cross.
